Influence of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Ablation on Arteries: Ex Vivo Studies

چکیده

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has been used to ablate solid tumors and cancers. Because of the hypervascular structure tumor circulating blood inside it, interaction between HIFU burst vessel is a critical issue in clinical environment. Influences on lesion production potential rupture were investigated this study for efficiency safety ablation. An extracted porcine artery was embedded transparent polyacrylamide gel phantom, with bovine serum albumin (BSA) as an indicator thermal lesion, degassed water driven through sample. The focus aligned anterior wall, middle artery, posterior wall. After ablation, produced photographically recorded, then its size quantified compared that phantom without artery. In addition, bubble dynamics (i.e., generation, expansion, motion, shrinkage bubbles their artery) captured using high-speed imaging. It found presence resulted decrease both axial lateral directions. characteristics are dependent alignment. Acoustic hydrodynamic cavitation play important roles Both mechanical effects surface wall after However, no ex vivo study.

In vivo photoacoustics and high frequency ultrasound imaging of mechanical high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation.

The thermal effect of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has been clinically exploited over a decade, while the mechanical HIFU is still largely confined to laboratory investigations. This is in part due to the lack of adequate imaging techniques to better understand the in-vivo pathological and immunological effects caused by the mechanical treatment. In this work, we explore the use of ...

Numerical Study for Optimizing Parameters of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound-Induced Thermal Field during Liver Tumor Ablation: HIFU Simulator

Introduction High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is considered a noninvasive and effective technique for tumor ablation. Frequency and acoustic power are the most effective parameters for temperature distribution and the extent of tissue damage. The aim of this study was to optimize the operating transducer parameters such as frequency and input power in order to acquire suitable temperatu...
